Chapter 61

Viola ignored his presence and looked around the room for clothes she could change into to leave the place, but there was none in the neat, fancy room. She couldn’t leave in this thin healing gown and find her way back to where she stays.

Seeing her searching, Sebastian realized what she was looking for. He took off his coat, walked forward and draped it over her shoulders from behind.

Viola jumped in surprise at the sudden warmth wrapping around her. She turned around, only to realize it was his coat. His intoxicating scent immediately hugged her senses, enveloping her in a way that made her breath hitch for a brief moment.

Before she could take it off to rid herself of his scent, he pulled her closer within the coat, her body colliding with his and causing her to gasp softly in surprise. She quickly stepped back, trying to put some space between them, but he didn’t release the front of the coat, not allowing her to get far away from him or escape his presence so easily.

“You are not a very easy person, four eyes,” he sighed, beginning to button up the coat after forcefully fitting her arms into its sleeves. The long sleeves swallowed her hands because he was so much taller than she was, but it did its job well, and he made sure she was comfortable and fully covered. He couldn’t help but notice how cute she looked in his oversized coat, and a faint smile tugged at his lips.

Viola opened and closed her mouth, at a loss for words. She didn’t know what to say to him. He was unpredictable, one moment mocking her, the next acting kind and considerate. What were his motives? She needed to know so she could guard herself against future harm and scheme accordingly.

“You are also stubborn. So stubborn,” he added, staring down at her. Her head barely reached the top of his chest, and he towered over her. Yet she met his eyes without a hint of fear, glaring at him in clear displeasure.

Viola frowned, forming lines on her forehead. “I am not a stubborn person,” she denied, refusing to give him any satisfaction by agreeing with him on his claims, even though she knew many people had called her stubborn in the past.

Sebastian chuckled at her displeased expression and words. “I see,” he said, tapping her forehead and using his finger to smooth the frown. “Stop frowning. It will give you wrinkles earlier than necessary p>

“Don’t touch me,” she warned, moving her head backward from his hand. Why did he always touch her? She didn’t like being touched that much, yet he always seemed to do it. Couldn’t he keep his hands to himself whenever he was talking to her?

Sebastian stared at her, mirth dancing in his silver eyes at her fierce glares. He couldn’t help but think she acted like a stubborn little kitten he wanted to keep poking, just to see her show her claws and bite. What would it take to make this stubborn woman not hate him anymore?

Viola moved completely away from his grip, turned toward the door, and began to hurry out. She expected him to stop her again but was surprised when he let her go.

When she stepped out the door, she subtly turned over her shoulder, and her heart gave a thud when she noticed him trailing after her. Why on earth was he following her again? Viola thought in displeasure, hastening her steps.

Sebastian already knew she needed to leave the healing house to prepare for tomorrow, so he didn’t try to stop her. But seeing her almost running, trying to escape when she noticed him behind her, he couldn’t help but call out:

“Those short legs can’t take you faster than that. Slow down before you hurt yourself, niñita,” he said. “What are you even hurrying away from p>

“Isn’t it obvious? I am getting away from you. Stop following me,” she said bluntly, without looking back. She didn’t want to be in his presence because he was confusing, and the confusing act was annoying her.

Sebastian’s brows rose. Did she just say that? Though he shouldn’t have been surprised when it came to this crazy little woman, he was. He was an Alpha, the supreme Alpha who commanded attention everywhere he went, and people would give anything to have his notice. He avoided many gatherings because everyone wanted to get close to him and be in his good graces, but here was someone running away from it.

This was the first time he had seen it, a female actually trying to get away and escape him. He’d never experienced anything like it before.

He had thought he would never see a day when someone would try to ignore his presence. And now, rather than finding it pleasing like he had been certain he would if no woman clung to him and try to always seek for his attention and disturb his time, he found himself hoping she wouldn’t try to get away from him every time.

He didn’t like it. The bond inside him didn’t like it at all.

He watched her reach the elevator and begin repeatedly pressing the button, as if pushing it more than once would make it arrive faster and carry her away from the hallway he was walking down.

He nearly laughed but bit it back, clearing his throat. With her small frame almost swallowed by his coat, she looked like a child from behind, trying to escape a strict father. It wasn’t like he was going to eat her, yet she acted as if that was exactly what would happen if he caught up to her.

When the elevator arrived, she dashed inside and began pressing the button again and again, as if to make it close before he could enter and join her. She wasn’t even hiding the fact that she was trying to get away from him.

Sebastian used his long legs to reach the elevator before it could close completely. He entered and turned to see her glaring daggers at his back, then moving to the far end of the space, as if she could pretend he wasn’t there. Really?

“I am going down as well, you know. This is not my house, and I need to use the elevator too,” Sebastian remarked.

Why was he even explaining himself to her? Didn’t he own this entire place? He didn’t owe her an explanation for sharing an elevator. He never even shared his lift and always had it cleared of werewolves before he entered. This little woman p>

Viola pursed her lips. “I wasn’t saying anything. Don’t talk to me.” She turned her head to the side, as if the walls were far more interesting than he was.

Viola didn’t mean to sound childish, but he was annoying, and she really didn’t want to talk to him. Not to mention, she had so much on her mind about tomorrow that she didn’t want his thoughts in her head, because his unpredictable behavior confused her. Whatever his motives were, it shouldn’t be him sabotaging her goals and her fight for tomorrow. She was okay with everything else, but not that.

She felt him watching her, but Viola pretended she didn’t notice at all.
