“Skye.”
“Please,” Skye said. “Trust me. I love you.”
She hung up.
Tears pricked her eyes. Pushing him away was the hardest thing she had ever done. But she couldn’t drag him into the SEC mess—not when he had Interpol breathing down his neck.
The day of the Sterling Corp shareholder meeting arrived. It was the final showdown.
Liam had called for a vote of no confidence against Skye, citing the arrest and the construction accident. He was trying to wrestle control of the company back through a proxy war.
Arthur Sterling was set to speak. The press releases would denounce his daughter.
Skye walked into the boardroom dressed in black—the color of executioners.
Arthur sat at the head of the table. He looked frail, but his eyes were clear. Two of Liam’s lawyers stood behind him like guards.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Arthur began, his voice shaking, “I have called this meeting to… to correct a grave error.”
Liam smiled from across the table. He thought he had won.
Skye stood at the back of the room. She didn’t speak. She simply played a video on the main screen.
It wasn’t Oksana. It wasn’t Seraphina.
It was Liam.
Footage from the night before, captured by a hidden camera in Arthur’s hospital room. Liam was leaning over the bed, threatening Arthur.
“Go on record, old man,” Liam snarled in the video. “Look into the camera and validate those signatures. Tell the world you signed them willingly. If you don’t, Skye rots in prison for the rest of her life.”
The boardroom gasped.
Liam shot to his feet. “Where… where did you get that?”
“I put a camera in Dad’s room, Liam,” Skye said, walking forward. “I knew you would try to intimidate him.”
“He was never in danger,” Skye added, addressing the room. “I had two armed security officers stationed in the ensuite bathroom the entire time. They were authorized to intervene the moment Liam made a physical threat. This was a controlled sting.”
She turned to the shareholders.

“My father is being blackmailed by Liam Kensington,” Skye said. “The documents the SEC has are forgeries, and this video proves witness tampering. Liam knows the signatures won’t hold up to forensic scrutiny, so he tried to force a confession.”
She looked at Arthur. “Tell them, Dad.”
Arthur straightened his spine. He looked at Liam with pure hatred.
“I did not sign those papers,” Arthur announced, his voice gaining strength. “And I certainly do not denounce my daughter. Skye Sterling is the only person fit to lead this company. Liam Kensington is a criminal who tried to frame me.”
“Lies!” Liam shouted. “He’s senile!”
“I resign from the board, effective immediately,” Arthur said. “And I appoint Skye Sterling as the permanent CEO with full voting rights.”
He slammed his fist on the table. “Get out of my building, boy.”
Liam looked around. The shareholders were glaring at him. The security guards were moving in.
“You’ll regret this,” Liam hissed. “Wait until tonight. Wait until the heir is born.”
He stormed out.
Skye walked over to her father and took his hand.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
