“But you’re so busy with your own work. You should focus on that.” He paused, then asked, “Arabella, with your level of skill, why aren’t you practicing at a major hospital p>

“But the way things are now… It’s just so difficult.” His face clouded with frustration and helplessness.
His sister had such remarkable talent, yet without the right connections, she couldn’t practice formally within a major institution. To Edward, it felt like a terrible waste.
Seeing his somber expression, Arabella offered a reassuring smile. “It’s okay. I am Mr. Stewart’s attending physician now, in a way. So it doesn’t matter if I’m not on the official staff roster. If you’re good at what you do, people will find you p>
“But practicing independently, without a hospital affiliation… is that secure?” Edward asked, his worry evident.
“Don’t worry. I’m not practicing off the books. I’m fully licensed, and Mr. Stewart has arranged for me to have admitting and treatment privileges here specifically for his case. I’m just not a salaried employee p>
