“But earlier, when Robert mentioned you were hiding something from him, was he referring to this?” Arabella asked curiously.
“Yes, exactly that,” Matthew confirmed.
“Ah, then you’ve really let him misunderstand the situation,” Arabella said, feeling a touch of sympathy for his predicament.
“It couldn’t be helped. A misunderstanding is preferable to him knowing the whole truth. Otherwise, he’d just worry unnecessarily,” Matthew explained, showing his understanding of his grandfather’s nature. Little did he know, however, that the matter Robert was actually concerned about was something else entirely.
“You really are quite a filial grandson,” Arabella observed, studying Matthew. Despite his usual cool exterior, his devotion to his grandfather was evident.
She recalled what Florence had shared about Matthew’s childhood, and a pang of sympathy flickered within her.
Matthew didn’t respond, merely looking at Arabella with a slight, unreadable curl of his lips. It was the first time anyone had said that to him and for some reason, he felt his fondness for her deepen another notch.
“By the way, we haven’t discussed how your flight training is progressing,” Matthew asked, shifting the topic with a calm demeanor.
Feeling more at ease after their exchange, Arabella replied, “It’s going quite well. I’ve been practicing on the flight simulator the past couple of days.
“Though today, thanks to you, I had my first crash,” she added, the memory returning to her.
A faint smile touched Matthew’s lips. “My apologies for that. Calling you must have broken your concentration.”
“I never thought I’d hear you apologize. Is this airst?” Arabella’s eyes widened slightly in genuine surprise.
“Is it really so strange? If I was the cause, an apology is only appropriate,” Matthew replied, his smile gentle.

“Well, that may be true, but you’re the esteemed CEO. You probably don’t apologize to people under normal circumstances, do you?” Arabella pressed, her curiosity piqued.
“Normally, no one speaks to me quite the way you do,” Matthew stated evenly.
“Oh. I see.”
“Then, since I often talk back to you, you must get quite annoyed with me, right?” Arabella raised an eyebrow playfully.
“Strangely enough, perhaps you possess some kind of charm. No matter how you speak to me, I never find myself becoming truly angry,” Matthew said, his gaze resting on her with that same soft smile.
Arabella immediately grinned, looking at him with amused confusion. “You really are something else.”
Even being called “something else“, Matthew only responded with a light chuckle.
“Is the simulator training difficult?” he asked, continuing their casual chat.
“Not overly so. It just requires intense concentration. Lose focus, and it’s easy to make a mistake.” Arabella explained.
“Hearing you talk about your handsome instructor… you didn’t take up flying just because of him, did you?” Matthew teased, though his tone was deceptively serious.
“I’m not that shallow. Frank was the one who wanted me to learn,” Arabella clarified.
“Why would he want you to learn to fly?” Matthew asked, his curiosity evident.
“You probably don’t know this, but Frank gifted me a plane. Since I didn’t know how to fly it, I had to learn. And you thought it was because of the instructor. How absurd,” Arabella said, rolling her eyes at him.
“Frank certainly has his own way of thinking. Flying around himself is one thing, but gifting you a plane…” Matthew said, looking at her with hint of amused disbelief.
“Don’t you misunderstand my brother. He’s bec wonderful to me. The plane he gave me is fantastic. Once I’m certified, maybe I’ll take you up sometime,” Arabella offered casually, without much forethought.
“That sounds excellent. I’ll look forward to it, then,” Matthew agreed without hesitation.
“Ah… right,” Arabella said, suddenly realizing she had just extended an invitation. The words were out now, and she couldn’t very well take them back.

“Mr. Robert Stewart, why don’t you have a seat and rest for a moment,” Owen suggested.
“Are all of Robert’s test results back?” Arabella asked Owen.
“Yes, they’re all in. Every indicator is within the normal range. Here you are,” Owen said, handing the report to Arabella.
Arabella reviewed the document carefully. After a moment, she looked up at Robert with a smile. “All your vitals have recovered remarkably well. If you wish to be discharged, you may do so at any time.”
Hearing this, Robert’s face lit up with a kindly smile. “In that case, I’ll check out today.”
Seeing his eagerness, Arabella couldn’t help but smile. “Alright. I’ll have Owen process the discharge paperwork for you.
“Owen, please handle the discharge procedures, Arabella instructed.
“Understood,” Owen replied before leaving the room once more.
Matthew turned to Arabella, his expression sincere. “Dr. Macdonald, you’ve worked very hard throughout all of this. Grandpa’s swift recovery is due in large part to your care.”
