After all, it was Dylan who’d gotten hurt, not her. The whole thing was none of her business, so she couldn’t care less.
“My sister should apologize? Am I hearing you correctly?” Ethan looked at Freya with an expression of utter disbelief.

“You heard right. That’s exactly what this delusional woman said,” Alfred chimed in coldly, giving Freya and Carter a sidelong glance of contempt.
“Who are you calling delusional? I’m speaking to Arabella–you two have no business interfering!” Hearing Alfred’s insult, Freya’s face contorted with anger as she glared at him.
“Delusional woman, my sister’s last name isn’t ‘Macdonald‘–it’s ‘Hamilton“,” Alfred stated coldly, correcting the old association.
“I don’t care what her last name is! Did you clearly hear my demands or not?” All Freya cared about in that moment was whether Arabella would comply.
Carter, meanwhile, stood off to the side, frowning as he silently assessed the situation and the two formidable–looking brothers.
Arabella, not wanting Alfred to inadvertently reveal too much about her past, quickly steered the conversation back. “And here I thought you’d come up with something impressive. Turns out this is the best you’ve got.”
“Enough of your lip! Right here, right now, get on the phone and have your people take down every single one of those photos! Then you’re coming with me,” Freya ordered Arabella in a tone that brooked no argument.
“Hah! You really are a piece of work,” Arabella scoffed dismissively.
“Harper and Dylan brought all of this on themselves. Frankly, I’m delighted by the outcome. If you two don’t want to end up sharing a hospital wing with Dylan, I suggest you step aside right now.
“Otherwise, this hospital might need to reserve two more beds in the orthopedic ward,” Arabella said, her gaze chillingly direct, her tone deceptively casual.
“You insolent little brat, you dare to threaten me?
“I raised you myself–don’t think I don’t know exactly what you’re made of! Trying to intimidate me? You’re not even in my league!
“Enough talk. Since you refuse to cooperate, just you wait.
“I know you come to this hospital every day for your little dressing changes. I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow too, though you might find yourself becoming a permanent resident of that wheelchair,” Freya threatened, her eyes dark and venomous.
“You have some nerve saying that. It seems the Macdonalds and the Clarks have completely worn out their welcome in this city,” Ethan said, his gaze turning icy as it settled on Freya and Carter.
Carter froze for a moment at Ethan’s words. What did he mean by that?
Freya, however, still wore a look of mocking disdain as she eyed Ethan. “I didn’t get a good look before–another fancy suit today, huh? Tell me, how many of these have you rented? Don’t you get tired of playing dress up and pretending to be some big shot?”
Hearing this, Alfred looked at Ethan, bewildered. “What’s she talking about? Renting suits? Playing a role? I’m not following.”
“Don’t bother trying to understand the ramblings of someone with such a narrow–minded perspective,” Ethan replied coolly.

“Since she’s so keen on the idea of Arabella being confined to a wheelchair, why don’t we let her experience it firsthand?” he suggested to Alfred.
“I like that idea. Works for me,” Alfred agreed readily.
He then turned to Arabella. “Arabella, aside from securing them a pair of wheelchairs, any other special requests?”
“No, you two handle it,” Arabella replied, settling back to watch. Since they had insisted on this confrontation, she was content to let her brothers deal with it.
“Alright. Ethan, you stay here with Arabella.” With that, Alfred began striding purposefully toward Freya and Carter.
Seeing him advance, a wave of primal fear washed over the pair, and they instinctively scrambled backward.
“What do you think you’re doing? This is a hospital!” Freya shrieked, her face pale and tense, as if the institution’s name alone was a shield.
Alfred merely smirked, closing the distance with a few long strides until he loomed directly in front of them.
Realizing the situation was about to turn violent, Carter immediately abandoned Freya, turning tail and sprinting away into the maze of parked cars.
Watching her husband desert her, Freya cursed under her breath, “You spineless coward! Just you wait till I get home!”
“Ahhh-!” A piercing, raw scream tore from Freya’s throat.
In one swift, brutal motion, Alfred had delivered two sharp, precise kicks, breaking both of her legs. She crumpled to the cold concrete floor, howling in agony.
After dealing with Freya, Alfred glanced in the direction Carter had fled, considering pursuit.
“Don’t bother chasing him. Let him go. Making the point is enough,” Arabella said, feeling it unnecessary to escalate further.
“Fine. That old fox got off easy,” Alfred conceded, though he sounded slightly unsatisfied.
Arabella cast a cold glance at Freya, who was now sobbing and writhing on the ground. “Now you’ve experienced the folly of overreaching. I’d advise against such arrogance in the future, unless you truly fancy life in a wheelchair.”
Then, with Ethan’s help, she got into the car, and Alfred drove them away from the hospital.
Carter, who had been hiding in his own car, didn’t dare emerge until Arabella’s vehicle was completely out of sight.
Timidly, he crept back to the scene, finding, Freya still writhing on the ground, her cries reduced to pained whimpers. A secret, petty satisfaction flickered within him.
Finally, someone put her in her place.
For a moment, Carter was tempted to just leave her there. But the cold reality–that the Macdonald family’s remaining assets were under Freya’s control–forced his hand.
He walked over and spoke without much sympathy, “Why are you still on the ground? They’re gone. Get up.”
“My legs… They’re broken! Go get a doctor, now!” Freya managed to gasp out between shuddering breaths, her whole body trembling with shock and pain.
