Arabella noticed a flicker of something in Frank’s expression. “Frank, how did you know Carter came to see me about Harper?”
Frank met her gaze. “Mom mentioned the online situation a while back, so I put two and two together.”
“Oh,” Arabella said, then ventured further. “Did you also know Dylan’s hand was broken?”
Seeing only family in the room, Frank didn’t see a reason to hold back. “Since you’re asking, I’ll be straight with you. The people who broke Dylan’s hand were sent by me.”
Arabella looked at him, genuinely surprised. “I always thought that was Matthew. I had no idea it was you.”
“They were trashing you online–of course I stepped up. And honestly, they got off easy,” Frank stated calmly.
“Frank, you’re full of surprises! Getting revenge for Arabella behind the scenes without saying a word–you should’ve at least told her so she could enjoy the moment,” Ethan teased.
“Never thought Frank would get his hands dirty for Arabella’s sake,” Alfred added, sounding thoughtful.
Ethan then narrowed his eyes playfully at Arabella. “So that’s why you went along with Matthew at the hospital that day. You thought he was the one who helped you, didn’t you?”
“Exactly,” Arabella admitted. “Matthew told me he’d handle the online mess, so when I heard about Dylan’s hand, I just assumed it was him. I even felt a little grateful.
“It never crossed my mind that it was actually Frank, quietly taking care of it all along.
“Frank, thank you. If you hadn’t said anything today, I would’ve been stuck in that misunderstanding,” she said, feeling both touched and a little amused.
“I didn’t want you to feel obliged. As long as the problem was fixed, that’s all that mattered,” Frank replied. “But you said Matthew sent people to handle it, too?”
“He did,” Arabella confirmed. “Frank, I also heard that after Dylan got hurt, not a single hospital in the city would treat him. Was that…?” She looked at him questioningly.
“That wasn’t me,” Frank said. “But for every major hospital in the city to turn him away… If it wasn’t someone from our family, it had to be Matthew.”
“Then it must have been him,” Arabella concluded.
“Looks like you two accidentally teamed up without even knowing it. Worked out perfectly,” Ethan joked.
“If Dylan knew both Frank and Matthew were coming after him for Arabella, he’d be scared out of his mind. He’s probably regretting every stupid move he made right about now,” Alfred added with a scoff.
“Dylan and the Macdonalds brought this on themselves. Frank went easy on them. If it were me, they wouldn’t have walked away so lightly,” Alfred said, his tone cool.
“I don’t think Dylan and his family even know who Arabella really is. If they did, they wouldn’t dare pull any of this, no matter how many chances you gave them.

“Confronting her at the hospital… just thinking about it now makes that whole family seem unbelievably foolish,” Ethan said, shaking his head.
“The Macdonalds went to the hospital to hassle Arabella?” Frank asked, his frown deepening as he looked at Ethan.
“Yeah. That’s why Alfred ended up… persuading them to leave,” Ethan said, his voice edged with irritation.
Frank’s eyes settled on Arabella in her wheelchair, filled with a quiet, pained concern.
Seeing how protective they all were, Arabella felt deeply cared for. She tried to lighten the mood. “It’s all handled now. Let’s go eat. Ethan, you wanted something different, right? Frank probably knows a great place. How about Frank takes us all out?”
“Perfect. And we’ll make Frank pay–he hasn’t been back to see you in ages. What do you think?” Ethan grinned.
“I’m in. Frank came back at just the right time,” Arabella agreed, smiling.
Frank was more than happy to treat them, his expression softening as he looked at her. “Of course. I’ll take you all somewhere good.”
“Let’s head out. I’ll push Arabella,” Alfred offered.
The group left the house together and drove to an upscale steakhouse Frank recommended.
Once they were seated and browsing the menus, Frank turned to Arabella. “What are you thinking of having? I can order for you if you’d like.”
‘It’s okay. I can order for myself. If you all spoil me like this, I might get too used to it,” Arabella said with a gentle laugh.
‘Would that be so bad?” Frank replied warmly.
‘She’s our sister. We’re supposed to look after her,” Alfred added.
‘Will you two cut it out? That’s a bit much. You’re going to ruin Arabella’s appetite before the food even gets here,” Ethan joked, olling his eyes at Frank and Alfred.
‘Arabella, just ignore them. Let’s figure out what we want,” Ethan said, turning to her with a smile.
‘Don’t act like you’re not just as bad, you just don’t have the guts to say it,” Alfred retorted, nudging Ethan.
‘Arabella, do you want me to walk you through the menu?” Alfred offered again, considerately.
‘I’ve got it, thanks. I can read it just fine,” Arabella replied, her smile easy and fond as she looked at her brothers.
