After ending the call, a document promptly appeared on Arabella’s phone.
She opened it and read through the contents carefully, her brow furrowing involuntarily.

“The presentation is certainly unusual, but the description is far too vague.” Based on the listed symptoms alone, she couldn’t even begin to form a diagnosis.
Shortly after, Arabella called Colton back. “Is this all the information they provided?”
“That’s it. I pressed for more details–hospital records, lab results–but they claimed they don’t have any. They said that’s exactly why they’re seeking out Aletta, because the condition is rare and has stumped everyone else,” Colton explained.
“They haven’t even consulted a hospital?” Arabella found that difficult to believe.
“Apparently not. When I pointed out that made a preliminary assessment impossible, they hinted that perhaps Aletta was… reluctant to take on the challenge,” Colton said, sounding exasperated. That was why he had called Arabella for her judgment first.
Arabella’s eyebrow arched slightly, and she let out a soft, dismissive sound. “A provocation? Do they think I’m that easily baited?” “I thought it was strange, too, but I didn’t want to decline on your behalf without checking. So, what’s your call?” Colton asked. “Don’t give them a response yet. I’ll come by your office tomorrow to review everything,” Arabella decided, opting for caution. For some reason, she had a nagging feeling the other party’s motives weren’t purely medical.
“Alright, understood,” Colton agreed.
After hanging up, Arabella’s expression turned pensive.
Something felt off, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint what.
Well, perhaps things would become clearer tomorrow.
The next day dawned clear and bright.
After breakfast, Alfred drove Arabella to the flight academy.
“Alfred, is the case officially closed?” Arabella asked on the way.
“For all practical purposes, yes. With the confessions as they are, it’s been classified as an attempted street robbery and assault,” Alfred said, his expression darkening slightly.
With no other evidence, it was the only conclusion they could draw.
“Then release the official closure notice as soon as possible,” Arabella said calmly.
Alfred glanced at her, quickly understanding her implication. “Right. That does seem like the next logical step.”
“Instead of being stuck on this case, it’s better to close it. Once the person behind it feels the heat is off, they’ll likely get careless again.

“Also, you don’t need to chauffeur me anymore. It’s drawing too much attention,” she added. She needed to give the other side an opening.
With no current leads, drawing them out was the only option.
“It’s a solid strategy, but I’m concerned about your safety,” Alfred hesitated.
Arabella offered a reassuring smile. “I have the brooch you gave me. I trust you’ll be able to monitor things.”
Alfred knew this was the most viable approach under the circumstances.
“Besides, I have to live my life. I can’t have you shadowing me indefinitely. It’s fine while you’re in Doranor City, but you’ll have assignments elsewhere eventually, right?” She needed to be self–reliant.
Hearing that, Alfred had to concede. “Alright. But you must promise to be extremely careful.”
“I will,” Arabella readily agreed.
Soon, Alfred pulled up at the academy entrance.
“I won’t pick you up after class, then. I’ll leave the car with you so you can get home easily,” Alfred said.
Since they were proceeding with the plan, he needed to give her the necessary space.
“What about you?” Arabella asked.
Alfred got out of the driver’s seat. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll grab a cab.
“Go ahead in. I’m heading out,” he said, turning to walk toward the main road.
“Arabella.” Just as she was about to enter the building, she heard her name.
Turning, she saw Lucas approaching.
“Just getting here too?” Lucas asked, walking up to her with a friendly smile.
Arabella returned the smile. “Shall we go in?”
“Starting a new training today. Nervous?” Lucas asked as they walked.
“Not really,” Arabella replied. Nervousness wasn’t the issue; she was mostly feeling anticipation.
After all, the third phase meant leaving the simulators behind for actual flight time.
Seeing her composure, Lucas‘ eyes held a note of admiration, and his smile softened. “True, there’s no reason for you to be nervous. With your aptitude, you’ll pick it up naturally. Just stay relaxed up there.” As they walked, he added, “Once you’re in the cockpit, remember to focus on…”
“Okay, got it.” Arabella nodded, taking in his pointers.
The two continued chatting as they made their way inside.
They didn’t notice Naomi and Ruby, who had just arrived at the entrance.

“Why does Arabella always have to be glued to Lucas?” Ruby muttered, her expression souring.
The sight of them together was irritating.
Naomi merely arched a brow, privately pleased with the development.
“Let’s go inside,” she said calmly. If Arabella was genuinely interested in Lucas, it meant she wasn’t pursuing Matthew.

“Naomi, how can you be so indifferent?” Ruby asked, frustrated by her cousin’s calm demeanor. Was even Naomi refusing to back her up now?
“I’m not being indifferent,” Naomi countered. “Do you think standing here and talking about it changes anything? Of course, we need to go inside.
“Besides, if you really like Lucas, you need to be proactive. Grumbling out here won’t get you anywhere,” Naomi reminded her, her tone practical.
