Chapter 294 A Ride Home
That kid really only knew how to cause trouble. What was he even trying to do?
“Andy, go finalize the contract,” Matthew instructed.
“Yes, sir,” Andy replied.
Hank gestured eagerly. “Right this way, Andy–my office is just over here.”
He wouldn’t relax until the papers were officially signed.
Once the two of them had walked off, Lucas eyed Matthew suspiciously. “What’s your game here?”
“You’re an instructor, not management. Stick to what concerns you,” Matthew said, his tone carrying a quiet authority.
Lucas fell silent, his expression tightening, thoroughly annoyed.
Something was off. Matthew definitely had an agenda.

Even though Lucas didn’t involve himself in the business side of things, he wasn’t clueless. Sure, the flight school had potential, but it wasn’t the kind of project a corporate player like Matthew would usually bother with.
“Lucas!” Arabella’s voice called out, and she quickly made her way over to him.
“Mr. Stewart!” She looked surprised to see Matthew. “What brings you here?”
Matthew replied evenly, “Scouting an investment opportunity. I’ve decided to invest here.”
“Invest?” Arabella looked puzzled. “I mean, it’s a niche business–the only one like it in Doranor City–and it has decent growth. potential, but for a corporation like Horizon to put money here… doesn’t that seem a little out of scope?”
Hearing her analysis, Matthew’s gaze sharpened slightly. “You seem to know a fair bit about investment strategy.”
Arabella froze, immediately regretting that she’d slipped into analyst mode.
She forced a light smile and played it casual. “It’s not that I understand investing. It just doesn’t seem like the kind of move you’d usually make, Mr. Stewart.”
“See? Even Arabella thinks so. It’s not just me,” Lucas said, sounding almost smug.
Look at that—he and Arabella were on the same wavelength.
After giving Lucas a cold glance, Matthew turned back to Arabella. “So you also think I shouldn’t invest?”
Warning bells went off in Arabella’s mind. She quickly backtracked “Well, not necessarily. It’s your decision, Mr. Stewart. I didn’t mean to overstep.”
Seriously!
She’d only spoken up out of surprise–this really wasn’t any of her business.
Seemingly satisfied with her corrected tone, Matthew said, “You’ll get used to my way of doing things eventually.”

“Huh?” Arabella blinked, confused. What was that supposed to mean?
“Who cares about your ‘way of doing things‘?” Lucas grumbled under his breath, his mood visibly souring.
That uneasy feeling in his chest was growing stronger and more persistent.
“No need for you to care, indeed,” Matthew replied coolly.
Arabella glanced from Matthew to Lucas. What was going on between these two now?
“Mr. Stewart, it’s all taken care of,” Andy reported as he returned.

Hank followed, beaming. “Mr. Stewart, I’ve arranged a lunch to celebrate the partnership. We’d be honored if you could join us.”
“That won’t be necessary,” Matthew replied flatly.
Hank’s smile faltered slightly, but he recovered quickly. “Of course–you must be very busy. I won’t keep you. Let me… walk you
out.”
Matthew turned to Arabella. “Are you done here for the day?”
“Huh?” Arabella didn’t catch his meaning at first.
What was he asking?
Matthew’s brow furrowed slightly. “Haven’t you finished your flight practice?”
Did she usually train this long every day?
“I’m done,” Arabella answered automatically. But why was he asking?
“Then let’s go,” Matthew said, as though preparing to leave with her.
Arabella looked puzzled. “Go where?”
“You’re done practicing. Aren’t you heading back?” Matthew’s eyes narrowed a fraction, his tone turning a shade cooler.
“Oh,” Arabella said, relieved to clarify. “Alfred is coming to pick me up later.”
“No need for that. You can ride with me–it’s on my way,” Matthew offered.
Hearing this, Lucas stepped in front of Arabella. “No need to trouble yourself, Mr. Stewart. I can give her a ride wherever she needs to go.”
The idea of Matthew driving Arabella home left him feeling strangely agitated.
Watching the exchange, Hank looked utterly confused. “Mr. Stewart, you know one of our students, too?”
Since when had someone like Matthew been so easy to get to know?
How did everyone seem to be connected to him?
“They’re not close,” Lucas cut in, unable to mask his irritation.

Lucas‘ tone was sharper than intended, and Hank frowned, giving him a light smack on the back of the head. “What’s gotten into you today?”
What was wrong with him? Why was he acting so out of character?
Lucas rubbed his head, complaining, “What was that for?”
“Mind your tone!” Hank scolded quietly, then turned back to Matthew with an apologetic look. “Mr. Stewart, he’s not usually like this. Please excuse him.”
“It’s of no consequence,” Matthew said, casting a dismissive glance toward Lucas. He wasn’t worth the energy..
“You’re very understanding, Mr. Stewart. I’ll have a word with him later,” Hank said, relieved. He was hoping for more collaboration down the line and couldn’t let Lucas mess this up.
“Uncle, you’re choosing business over family!” Lucas protested. How could he side with Matthew over his own nephew!
