Chapter 300 A Confrontation at the Hospital
‘Are you sure you two will be alright?” Alfred asked.
‘We’ll manage just fine. Don’t worry,” Arabella assured him with a nod.
‘Alright. I’ll keep my phone close.”
Watching the pair get out and walk toward the hospital entrance, Alfred pulled away from the curb.
Arabella guided Edward to their scheduled appointment with the specialist.

‘His vital signs are stable, but we need to run the full series of scans and lab work for a complete picture,” the doctor explained.
‘Of course, please proceed with everything that’s needed,” Arabella agreed.
By the time Arabella had accompanied Edward through the last of the tests, it was nearly noon.
‘We’ll need to come back this afternoon for the final results. Let’s get some lunch first and pick them up afterward,” Arabella ¡uggested.
‘Sounds good,” Edward agreed.
The two made their way downstairs and exited the hospital, intending to find a place to eat nearby.
‘Edward!” A sharp, familiar voice cut through the ambient noise.
‘Well, look at you. Refusing to come home is bad enough, but now you’re spending your time with this troublemaker? Are you rying to finish me off for good?” Freya’s voice was shrill with anger.
Edward frowned. “Mom? What are you doing here?”
“What am I doing here?” Freya spat sarcastically. “Thanks to her, I’ve been stuck in this place for almost a month. I was just discharged today, and I’m supposed to be resting at home.”
“Mom,” Edward said, his tone weary. “Can you please just have a normal conversation?”
Freya snorted. “If I weren’t still injured, we wouldn’t be having a conversation–I’d be teaching her a lesson!”
She’d broken bones because of that girl, and he was worried about her tone?
Arabella raised a cool eyebrow. “Since you’ve been discharged, you should focus on behaving Unless you’d like another extended stay?”
It seemed the previous consequences hadn’t been lesson enough.
Freya involuntarily flinched but fired back defiantly, “I didn’t start anything this time! Would you dare lay a hand on me first?
“Edward, listen to how she talks to me right in front of you Can you imagine what she’s like when you’re not around?”
Edward replied with strained patience, “Mom, you’re not fully recovered. Maybe it’s better for your health if you stay quiet
She criticized Arabella’s attitude, but what about her own venom?

Freya glared at her son. “What is that supposed to mean? Am I too loud for you?”
“I’m saying you still need to rest,” Edward struggled to explain.

“If you know I’m not well, then stop provoking me!” Freya shot back, throwing a venomous look at Arabella before turning her focus to Edward. “You’re coming home with me. Now.”
“Mom, I’m not going back,” Edward refused firmly.
“And where exactly are you planning to go? To keep wasting your time with this… this nobody?” Freya’s voice rose to a near–shriek. “Do you have any idea she nearly killed me? And your father is still in jail because of her!”
“Mom!” Edward sighed heavily. “The police don’t put people in jail without cause.”
As much as it pained him that his father was detained, if someone broke the law, they had to face the consequences.
“You!” Freya was instantly enraged, her jaw clenched. “So you’re absolutely refusing to come home? Are you trying to disown your own family?”
Pressed by her threat, Edward’s face paled. He was at a loss. The blood tie was undeniable–he couldn’t simply sever it–but returning home was the last thing he wanted.
Frowning with clear displeasure, Arabella spoke coldly, “You said it yourself. If that’s truly your decision, then I suggest you make a formal, public announcement.”
She seriously doubted Freya had the nerve to follow through with such a drastic, public disownment.
“What did you say?” Freya snarled. “You’d love that, wouldn’t you? To have him all to yourself?”
Arabella shrugged, her expression deliberately neutral. “I’m merely acknowledging the choice you just presented.”
Don’t try to twist this–you issued the ultimatum, now own it.
Freya narrowed her eyes, hissing, “You’re the one who poisoned his mind against coming home! Your intentions were rotten from the very beginning!”
“If you want to understand why your son doesn’t want to return, I suggest you take a good, hard look in the mirror first, Arabella retorted, her gaze icy.
“You… you manipulative little-!” Freya sputtered, choking on her fury, her complexion darkening.
“Edward, I’m asking you one last time,” she seethed, turning back to him. “Are you coming home with me or not? if you choose not to, then don’t you ever call me your mother again!” She refused to believe he would actually choose an outsider over her
“Mom, I have my own mind. Why must you force me like this?” Edward’s voice was thick with distress
“Being with her is completely unacceptable!” Freya insisted through gritted teeth. “Do you not understand? She’s here to destroy our family!”
Edward felt utterly helpless, unsure how to get through to her.
“Destroy him?” Arabella let out a short, disbelieving laugh, her eyes locked on Freya. “Do you have any idea why we’re even here today?”

“My brother had a comprehensive medical evaluation today,” Arabella stated clearly. “If all his results come back clear, he can finally live a normal, healthy life.” She paused, letting that sink in before continuing, her voice sharpening. “And you–from the moment you saw him, you haven’t shown an ounce of concern or asked a single question about his health. All you’ve done is criticize him and try to guilt him with duty. When have you ever offered him genuine care or warmth?”
Freya’s jaw tightened, her stance rigid with stubborn defiance. “I am his mother! Everything I do is for his own good.”
