Chapter 312 A Timely Intervention
“Sure,” Edward agreed and followed Arabella inside the building.
“Wait, Edward, come back!” Harper called out, her voice tight with frustration.
Edward didn’t even look her way.
Harper could only clench her jaw and shoot a threat toward Arabella. “You’ll regret this, Arabella. Just you wait.”
“Wait for what?” A cool, measured voice cut through the air.
Harper flinched and spun around.
“Oh my gosh… Mr. Stewart?” Dylan stammered, taking an unsteady step back, his eyes wide with shock.
Hearing the voice, Arabella turned. A flicker of surprise showed in her eyes. “Mr. Stewart? What brings you here?”

‘Just in the neighborhood,” Matthew said as he closed the distance, stopping in front of her. His gaze briefly scanned the scene before settling back on her. “What’s going on out here?”
‘It’s my brother’s new venture. I was just stopping by to see the space,” Arabella explained.
Matthew’s eyes shifted to Edward, recognition dawning–he’d seen him once or twice before.
‘Mr. Stewart,” Edward greeted with a respectful nod.
Matthew’s attention returned to Arabella. “Running into some issues?”
Dylan’s stomach dropped. He quickly stepped forward, forcing a smile. “Mr. Stewart, this is all a big misunderstanding. We were ust checking if the new business might need a hand with anything.”
Matthew kept his eyes on Arabella, silently asking for the real story.
Seeing Dylan’s sudden shift from arrogant to anxious, a faint, knowing smile touched Arabella’s lips. “You could say there’s been a
ninor disturbance.”
Typical. All bluster until someone bigger shows up.
‘Mr. Stewart, please, she’s exaggerating,” Harper jumped in, not missing a chance to throw Arabella under the bus. “We genuinely wanted to see if we could help.”
‘Andy,” Matthew said, his tone turning flat and direct. “Look into this. Sort it out.”
‘Hey! Are you even listening?” Harper snapped, irritation getting the better of her.
Why was he completely ignoring them?
Dylan grabbed Harper’s arm and pulled her back, his other hand coming up to cover her mouth. “Are you crazy? Keep your voice down,” he hissed near her ear. “That’s not someone you mess with We can’t afford to piss him off”
She was actually talking back to Matthew? Did she have a death wish?

“Matthew, now that we’re here, we might as well take a look inside,” Robert suggested, stepping out of a sleek town car and walking over with calm ease.
Arabella’s eyes widened. “Robert?”
What was he doing here?
“Hope we’re not intruding,” Robert said, a casual smile playing on his lips as he arched a brow.
“No, not at all,” Arabella replied automatically. “You’re welcome here.”
“Robert, Mr. Stewart, please, come in,” she said, gesturing toward the entrance. Then she added lightly, “Everything’s still in the setup phase. Any advice from someone like Mr. Stewart would be a huge advantage for my brother.”
Matthew shot Arabella a look that held a hint of dry amusement. With you involved, his expression seemed to say, he hardly needs my advice.
‘Robert, Mr. Stewart, right this way,” Edward said, ushering them inside politely.
The group moved into the building, leaving Dylan and Harper standing alone on the sidewalk.
Watching how casually Robert and Matthew interacted with Arabella, Dylan’s expression turned grim, his eyes darkening. So, bumping into Arabella with Matthew at the mall last month wasn’t random. They actually knew each other. Well.
‘Ouch!” Lost in his thoughts, Dylan yelped as a sharp pain shot through his foot, making him finally let go of Harper.
‘Why’d you step on my toe?” he grumbled, annoyed.
Harper sucked in a deep breath, glaring at him. “You were crushing me! What was that for?”
‘Sorry, sorry, I just panicked back there,” Dylan said, his tone shifting to concern as he checked if she was okay. “Did I hurt you?”
“You’re asking now? Yeah, you did!” Harper’s eyes grew watery, her lower lip quivering in a practiced pout.
Dylan rubbed his face, regret clear in his voice. “Look, I overreacted because I was scared. You don’t get it–crossing Matthew… It’s bad news. Your family, my family, even if we teamed up with the Clarks–it wouldn’t matter.”
That was why he’d shut her down so fast.
“Is he really that connected?” Harper frowned, skepticism mixing with her irritation.
She knew Dylan tried to get in good with powerful people, but this level of fear was new
And how on earth did Arabella land someone like that in her corner?
A fresh wave of jealousy burned through Harper. “Arabella’s full of surprises, isn’t she?” she muttered bitterly
“Tell me about it,” Dylan said, his own resentment simmering “I definitely underestimatedt her.”

“So what’s our move now?” Harper asked, the fight draining out of her, replaced by sulky defeat

“I need to do some digging first, figure out what their deal is,” Dylan said quietly. He wasn’t about to make another move without more information. “Then we’ll see.”
“Fine,” Harper sighed, crossing her arms.
Dylan took her hand, his voice softening into a coaxing tone. “Come on, don’t let it ruin the day. I’ll make it up to you. Let’s catch a movie.”
‘I want one of those private luxury suites. Just us,” Harper said, leaning into him and looking up through her lashes.
Dylan gave her hip a light squeeze. “Anything you want, babe.”
Harper gave his shoulder a half–hearted shove. “You’re impossible.”
‘You love it,” Dylan countered with a grin, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and leading her to his car.
Arabella and Edward showed Robert and Matthew into a spacious office on the main floor.
‘Please, have a seat,” Edward said, motioning to the modern seating area. “Can I get you both something to drink? Water? Coffee?”
‘I’ll be right back,” he added before stepping out momentarily.
Robert settled into a low armchair, his eyes taking in the room. “It’s a clean, modern look. Simple, but you can tell thought went nto it,” he remarked approvingly.
