Chapter 319 Uncovering the Truth
“Mm,” Lucas answered weakly.
“Just rest. I’ll handle this,” Arabella told him.
“Handle what?” Lucas looked at her in surprise.
“I think someone targeted us on purpose…” Arabella quickly explained her suspicions.
Lucas‘ expression darkened. “How could this happen? Who have we even upset lately?”
Otherwise, why would anyone want to hurt them?
Arabella’s face turned cold as Ruby’s name came to mind.
“If I had to guess, Ruby,” she said.
Lucas hesitated. “But didn’t she leave?”
Sure, they’d had words earlier, but she’d already gone, hadn’t she?

“She wouldn’t have to do it herself. She could pay someone,” Arabella pointed out. “Besides, aside from the café staff, who else knew we were getting drinks?”
“I didn’t order any drinks!” Lucas was shocked. “I thought you did.”
“I thought you did,” Arabella replied, her expression growing more troubled.
So neither of them had ordered those drinks at all.
“Whoever did this has some nerve, coming after me like this!” Lucas grew agitated and tried to sit up.
Arabella gently pressed him back down. “Don’t move. Just focus on resting.”
In his condition, thinking about payback? He could barely sit up.
Lucas fumed. “Just wait till I’m out of here.”
Seeing his pale face, Arabella shook her head. “Just lie still.”
“Ugh,” Lucas sighed, feeling utterly drained.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll find a caregiver for you,” Arabella said.
Lucas sounded reluctant. “Are you leaving?”
“Yes. I need to pick up my car and look into this.” Once she had proof, Ruby wouldn’t get away with it.
Hearing that, Lucas could only agree. “Okay.”
“I’ll come see you tomorrow,” Arabella told him.

Lucas‘ eyes brightened a little. “Promise? I’ll be waiting.”
Arabella found it both amusing and frustrating. Why did people act like children when they were sick?
“I promise. I’m going now.”
After arranging for a nurse, Arabella left the hospital.
She took a cab to the auto shop to pick up her car.
“Having my own car is so much easier,” she murmured, then drove back to the flight school.
“How’s Lucas?” the café attendant asked anxiously as soon as Arabella returned.
Arabella studied her and got straight to the point. “Not great. He needs to stay in the hospital for observation.”
The attendant paled. “It’s that serious?”
“I’m going to get to the bottom of this,” Arabella said, watching her reaction closely.
The attendant nodded. “It should be looked into. Otherwise, I wouldn’t feel right about it either.”
She’d followed all the standard procedures. She had no idea how this could have happened.
Arabella’s eyes
narrowed slightly. Was the attendant not involved, or was she just a good actress?

“When Lucas got the drinks, he never imagined this would happen. We believe you didn’t do it on purpose,” Arabella said, testing
the waters.
“It wasn’t Lucas who ordered them.” The attendant shook her head. “The order came through the app under your name.”
“Me?” Arabella was taken aback.
She’d only said that to probe the attendant. She hadn’t expected this answer.
“Yes. I still have the digital receipt,” the attendant said, showing Arabella the order confirmation on her tablet.
Arabella saw her own name and contact information listed.
Clearly, someone had impersonated her–likely to cover their tracks in case anyone investigated.
“I see,” Arabella said, taking a screenshot before leaving.
The attendant stood there, confused, just watching her go.
“What does that mean?” Didn’t she say she was going to investigate?
After leaving the café, Arabella ran into the safety officer from earlier.
“How’s Lucas doing?” the officer asked with concern.
“He’ll be okay, but he needs a few days in the hospital for observation,” Arabella replied.
“That’s a relief,” the officer sighed. “It’s been a strange day. Feels like everyone’s having issues.”

“What else happened?” Arabella asked.

The officer explained, “One of the trainees was lingering in a restricted area earlier. I told her to move along, and she ended up straining her neck. She went to the clinic, and not long after that, Lucas got sick.”
“Which trainee? What was her name?” Arabella’s eyes turned sharp.
When she was practicing, there hadn’t been any other trainees around. How could someone have been there?
“What was her name…” The officer thought for a moment. “Can’t recall exactly, but she was one of the girls who used to train around the same time as you.”
“Naomi or Ruby?” Arabella pressed.
Hearing the names, the officer considered. “Probably the one named Ruby. Naomi always seemed more reserved. I remember her?
“Alright, I understand,” Arabella said, her expression turning to ice.
So it was Ruby after all.
