Chapter 327 Naomi’s Growing Suspicion

“I just have a bad feeling about this,” Naomi said, her heart pounding.

Ruby ventured a guess, “Maybe he doesn’t want to break off the engagement after all?”

Naomi’s jaw tightened. “Actually, the engagement is already off.”

She had heard it clearly that day at Hamilton Manor.

Besides, the whole family seemed to be hoping Matthew and Arabella would end up together.

“Ruby… you don’t think Matthew’s ‘plans‘ could involve Arabella, do you?” Her voice trembled as she spoke, and Naomi felt as if all the strength had drained from her body.

“That… that couldn’t happen, right?” Ruby sounded dismissive. “Why would someone like Mr. Stewart be interested in her? She only got close because of Robert.”

“But…” Naomi’s worry lingered.

Once the seed of doubt was planted, it was hard to suppress. It grew wildly, like stubborn weeds.

“Oh no, I really can’t hold it anymore,” Ruby suddenly groaned. “Naomi, I have to run to the bathroom. I’ll call you back!”

“Hello?” Listening to the dial tone, Naomi muttered in confusion, “What’s going on with Ruby?”

Her phone rang again almost immediately. Naomi answered, “Ruby, what’s wrong?”

“Naomi, it’s Levi. About the design draft from yesterday–the client wants more revisions. The designer already made the changes, and we need your final approval.” Levi’s voice came through the line.

“Oh, Levi,” Naomi replied, shifting gears. “Alright, I’ll head to the studio right now.”

After hanging up, Naomi took a steadying breath, started her car, and drove toward Cloudy Design.

When Arabella returned to Cloudrise Manor, she walked into the living room

Usually a lively space, the living room now only held Alfred.

“Arabella, you’re back,” Alfred said, gesturing for her to join him. “Come, have a seat”

“Where is everyone?” Arabella asked.

“Ruby isn’t feeling well. They all went to check on her,” Alfred explained. “Mom and Dad were worried you might feel uneasy coming back to an empty house, so they asked me to wait here for you.”

“I see,” Arabella responded calmly.

Timing–wise, Ruby’s body was indeed reaching its limit.

“Who knows what she ate. They said she’s been in and out of the bathroom all day. This afternoon, it got so bad they had to take her to the hospital,” Alfred added.

Arabella gave a slight nod. “Mm.”

Seeing how composed Arabella was, and considering Ruby’s past hostility toward her, Alfred didn’t press the topic further.

Since the two weren’t close, Arabella’s detached attitude was understandable.

“Let’s have dinner, then,” Alfred said, deciding to drop the subject of Ruby.

“Alright.” Arabella stood and followed Alfred into the dining room.

Once they were seated, the staff served dinner and quietly withdrew.

“Arabella, make sure you eat enough,” Alfred reminded her kindly.

“I will,” Arabella acknowledged.

They were halfway through their meal when the rest of the family returned.

“You two are just eating now?” Florence and Jonathan walked in, noticing Arabella and Alfred at the table.

“Arabella only got back a little while ago,” Alfred explained.

Naomi, who had entered behind them, overheard and couldn’t help asking, “Arabella, were you in meetings with Matthew all this

time?”

Arabella replied coolly, without looking up, “I have my own responsibilities to attend to as well.”

A meeting that lasted the entire day! What was she implying?

Naomi immediately felt flustered and said apologetically, “I was just making conversation”

“Then choose your topics with a little more sense,” Arabella said, finally looking up at Naomi, her gaze pointed. “I’d advise you to spend less time around people who lack common sense. It’s rubbing off on you.”

Naomi’s face fell, but she forced herself to reply, “You’re right. I spoke carelessly I’m sorry”

“No need to apologize. As long as you believe you’re right, that’s what matters” Having said her piece, Arabella returned to her dinner, showing no further interest in engaging with Naomi.

“Naomi, Arabella does have a point,” Alfred chimed in. “You used to be so sharp, well–mannered, and perceptive. But lately, you seem a bit… off. is Ruby’s influence getting to you?”

“Why is everyone still gathered down here?” Ethan walked in, noticing the family in the living room. His eyes then shifted to the dining area, where Arabella and Alfred were eating. “You’re only eating now?” he asked, walking over to the table. “I didn’t eat much earlier. Mind if I join you for a bit?”

“Why didn’t you eat enough?” Alfred asked.

“The hospital was noisy and chaotic. I just picked at my food,” Ethan replied, pulling out a chair..

Arabella served a plate of pasta and placed it in front of him. “Here, Ethan. You should eat properly.”

‘Thanks, Arabella.” Ethan accepted it and began to eat.

Alfred inquired, “So, how is Ruby doing?”
