“Since you’ve been mentioning feeling cooped up here lately, Dr. Macdonald came to check on your progress,” Matthew said, gesturing toward Arabella.

Arabella offered a polite smile. “I came with Mr. Stewart. He mentioned you were getting a bit restless, so I thought I’d come by to check on your recent recovery.
“How have you been feeling?” Arabella stepped closer and asked.
“I feel almost back to my old self. If you give the green light, Dr. Macdonald, I think I’m ready to check out of here,” Robert said amiably a clear hint of eagerness in his eyes.
“It certainly sounds like you’re ready to be discharged. Let’s schedule a full set of tests shortly. If everything comes back clear, then you can go home to rest,” Arabella said with a professional smile.
Hearing this, Robert perked up instantly and noded with satisfaction. “Excellent. Let’s get those tests done, then.”
“Alright. I’ll have Owen come over right away,” Arabella said, taking out her phone to send a message to the head nurse.
Robert shot another pointed look at Matthew but, out of consideration for Arabella being present, decided not to press the issue of the broken engagement for the moment.
“Dr. Macdonald, in my current condition, would I still need to continue with any medication after being discharged?” Robert asked.
“Yes, I would recommend a course of maintenance medication for a while to consolidate your recovery and prevent any regression,” Arabella replied.
As they were speaking, Owen walked in with a nurse in tow.

“Mr. Robert Stewart, if you’ll follow me this way, Owen said, gesturing politely before escorting Robert out of the room.
Now, only Matthew and Arabella remained.
Arabella took a seat in a nearby armchair and looked at Matthew. “Mr. Stewart, earlier in your office, you mentioned an ‘interesting story‘ but didn’t finish it. Care to elaborate now?”
“You really want to know?” Matthew hadn’t expected her to circle back to this.
“Well, we’re just sitting here with nothing else to do. A little conversation is better than silence, don’t you think?” Arabella said with a light, curious smile.
Matthew studied her for a moment, then began. Actually, it’s not an amusing story. It’s about when we were shopping–someone took photos and posted them online.
“But don’t worry, the posts have been scrubbed. We just haven’t identified the culprit definitively yet,” Matthew added, trying to sound reassuring.
Hearing this, Arabella allowed a slight, knowing smile. “So all this time, the ‘interesting story‘ was just this?
“No wonder you were acting a bit odd. I thought it might be something more serious.
“I was already aware of this. When did you find out?” Arabella now looked at him with a meaningful gaze.
“You knew? Why didn’t you say anything sooner” Hearing her response, Matthew realized he had perhaps overcomplicated the situation. He had even been hesitant to bring it up.
“I figured the fewer people who knew, the better so I didn’t mention it to you. But now that you’re aware too, it doesn’t matter,” Arabella said casually.
“Do you know who posted them?” she asked.
“It was those two who confronted you at the hospital before–Harper and Dylan,” Matthew confirmed.
“We went easy on them last time. How would you like to handle it this time?” Matthew asked, seeking her opinion.
“After stirring up trouble online like that, we can let them off as lightly as before,” Arabella said, her tone turning serious.

“Alright. I’ll handle it exactly as you see fit,” Matthew said, a firm resolve settling in his eyes.
“You’ll handle it?” Arabella was slightly surprised
“Of course. This incident didn’t just slander you the photos included me as well. I can’t let those two continue unchecked. Who knows what they might try next time,” Matthew stated sternly.
“Alright then, Mr. Stewart. I’ll leave it in your hands. Frankly, having you handle it puts me more at ease,” Arabella agreed. Even though she had already tasked Colton with dealing with it, she couldn’t refuse Matthew’s offer now.
As he said, he was implicated too. If he wanted to teach Harper and Dylan a lesson to vent his own frustration, she couldn’t very well stop him.
Besides, if he later found out someone else had intervened, it would naturally raise questions about her involvement, which could lead to unnecessary complications.
“Good. Just wait for my update. If you wish to confront them personally, I can have them brought to you,” Matthew offered.
“I would like to see them taught a lesson, but doing it personally… I’m afraid it would just get my hands dirty. Besides, they aren’t worth the effort,” Arabella said, a cold, dismissive glint in her eyes.
