Unbeknownst to him, everything that had just unfolded in Macdonald Villa had been witnessed by the man who had followed him home.
After taking in the entire scene, the man immediately reported the situation to Colton, leaving nothing out.
Hearing the report, Colton couldn’t help but laugh. “You did well. There’ll be a nice bonus in it for you,” he said approvingly.
Hanging up, Colton didn’t waste a second and dialed Arabella’s number.
“Arabella, mission accomplished. Carter and Freya just had a royal showdown. The Macdonald household is in complete chaos right now–totally upended,” Colton reported with glee.
“Well done. That’s exactly what we wanted,” Arabella replied, a faint smile touching her lips. “Did Carter throw Freya out?” she inquired.
“Not exactly. Turns out the house is in Freya’s name now. Carter’s the one who lost everything -he’s lucky he wasn’t tossed out. But reading the room, Carter’s the one who’s been effectively dethroned. Freya didn’t make him leave physically, though. Any idea why?” Colton was puzzled
Arabella was also somewhat surprised. If Carter knew Freya had siphoned off the family assets, how could he possibly stand to stay under the same roof with her, even if she allowed it?
“Keep someone on the Macdonalds. I want to know what their next move is,” Arabella instructed, a slight frown on her face.
“Got it. I’ll keep you posted,” Colton said.
“Oh, and those compromising photos of Dylan and Harper from last time–have how to handle them?” Colton asked.

“You remember how they dragged my name through the mud online before, don’t you?” Arabella’s voice turned cool.
“Understood. I’ll make the arrangements,” Colton replied before hanging up.
Arabella set her phone down, picked up her paintbrush, and continued working on the seascape unfolding across the paper before her. The sunset she was capturing looked exceptionally beautiful.

The next day, the breeze was gentle, the clouds were wispy, and the sunlight was perfectly soft.
Ethan had been staying at Cloudrise Manor the past few days to look after Arabella and take her to her medical appointments.
After Florence helped Arabella get dressed, she wheeled her downstairs for breakfast.
“How are you feeling today, Arabella?” Jonathan asked, his face full of concern.
“Much better. Honestly, I feel like I could try walking today, but Mom won’t hear of it–she’s worried I’m not fully healed,” Arabella said, her eyes warm from the family’s constant care.
“Your mother has a point. It’s only been a few days and you’re already thinking about walking? Absolutely not. Hang in there a little longer. When the doctor gives the green light, we won’t stop you,” Jonathan said, a gentle smile in his eyes.
“Alright, for your peace of mind, I’ll be patient a while longer,” Arabella teased, knowing their concern came from love.
“Mom, another feast this morning?” Arabella looked at the table laden with a sumptuous spread, unsure where to even start.
Ever since her injury, every meal had been like this. Florence kept rotating through an array of
hearty, nutritious dishes, worried Arabella might get bored. Arabella was pretty sure she’d already gained a few pounds.
“Eat up. All of this is good for your recovery,” Florence said, her gaze full of tenderness.
“Mom, Arabella needs the nourishment, but the rest of us don’t. Did you make anything a little… plainer for us?” Ethan looked at the rich dishes and felt his appetite wane.
“You want something plain?” Florence turned to him.
“Yeah.”
“Didn’t make any. You’re on your own if you want something plain.” Florence tossed back casually. She was too busy catering to her injured daughter to worry about their dietary preferences.
Ethan was left speechless. He shot Jonathan a helpless look. “Dad, do you want-”
“I think breakfast looks wonderful as it is. No need for anything else. This frittata is excellent you haven’t tried it yet, have you? Here, have some,” Jonathan said, deftly cutting off Ethan’s complaint.

Seeing Jonathan was content, Ethan gave up on the idea of a light breakfast and resigned himself to eating the hearty meal along with everyone else.
“You should count yourselves lucky. If it weren’t for Arabella, you wouldn’t be getting these home–cooked meals,” Florence remarked, glancing at Ethan.
Ethan didn’t argue. He quietly ate a few more bites before setting his fork down.
Noticing Ethan was done, Arabella quickly spoke up, “I’m finished too. I heard the doctor’s schedule is packed today, so we should probably head out early. Ethan, ready to go?”
Catching her cue, Ethan played along. “Right, the doctor did mention that yesterday. We should get going.”
“Mom, Dad, take your time. We’re done, so we’ll head to the hospital first,” Ethan said, looking at Florence and Jonathan..
“Finished already? It looked like you’d just started,” Florence said, her eyes concerned as she looked at Arabella’s plate.
“I’ve had plenty. We really should get going,” Arabella said, then gestured for Ethan to wheel her
away.
“What time will you be back? I’ll have lunch ready for you!” Florence called after their retreating figures.
