Seeing he was approaching the matter in a purely professional and straightforward manner, Arabella’s expression turned thoughtful. “In that case, I’ll need to review the details internally and have a proper discussion with Ethan. As the initial investor, he has a right to be fully informed and involved in the decision.”
Matthew’s eyebrow lifted slightly in surprise, a flicker of admiration in his gaze. She framed it as consulting Ethan not just as her brother, but to honor his rights as a stakeholder. She truly had the mind of a capable executive.
“Of course,” Matthew agreed. “Once you’ve reached a decision, you can bring the formal proposal to my office anytime.”
“I’ll be in touch as soon as possible,” Arabella stated decisively.
With that, she turned back to Robert. “Robert, I really should be going now.”
“Certainly,” Robert replied, then added pointedly, “Matthew, see Dr. Hamilton out.”
Arabella quickly declined. “That’s not necessary at all, I know the way.”
Even with a potential investment on the table, she wanted to avoid any ambiguity about her relationship with Matthew. In her view, they were strictly business associates–nothing more.
Watching Arabella make a swift exit, Robert shot a disapproving look at his grandson. “Why didn’t you walk her to her car?”
“Grandfather, please,” Matthew sighed, a note of exasperation in his voice. “You need to stop with the matchmaking.”
“Hmph! I think Dr. Hamilton is perfectly wonderful. What exactly is your problem?” Robert grumbled. First, he showed no interest in Naomi, and now he was brushing off Arabella. What kind of woman was he waiting for?
Suppressing another sigh, Matthew decided to lay out the practical consequences. “Grandfather, if you continue like this, you may find Dr. Hamilton becomes a less frequent visitor.”
“What do you mean by that?” Robert asked, immediately concerned. He had grown genuinely fond of Arabella.
“Do you think she left in such a hurry because of me?” Matthew countered, raising an eyebrow.
Robert puffed out his chest slightly. “Well, it certainly couldn’t have been because of me.”
“Actually, it was,” Matthew explained bluntly. “She left because your obvious attempts to pair us up made her uncomfortable. If you do this every time she comes, she’ll start finding reasons to avoid visiting altogether.”
“But she has to come. She’s my physician,” Robert insisted, though his confidence wavered slightly.
“You’ll be fully recovered soon,” Matthew reminded him, his tone gentle but firm.
Robert was momentarily silenced. He set his cup down on the table with a soft clink. “Fine. Out. Go to your office or wherever, Stop bothering me.”
“I’m heading to the company,” Matthew said, satisfied his point had landed. He turned and left the room.
“Some more coffee to settle your spirits,” the butler offered quietly, refilling Robert’s cup.

As he sipped, Robert mulled over Matthew’s words. He had to admit there was some truth to them. But that didn’t mean he was giving up entirely. If overt maneuvers were counterproductive, perhaps a more subtle approach was required.
Meanwhile, Arabella drove directly from Stewart Manor to Ethan’s office.
“Arabella, what a surprise,” Ethan said, looking up from his desk. “Is everything okay?”
“I need to discuss something with you,” Arabella said, taking a seat with a serious expression.
Ethan leaned forward, his attention fully captured. “What is it?”
“I was just at the Stewarts‘ checking on Robert…” Arabella proceeded to outline the investment proposal.
“So, Matthew is looking to invest two hundred million? In both the company and the lab?” Ethan leaned back, thoughtful. An injection of capital on that scale would certainly change their operational timeline.
He didn’t voice his immediate conclusions, however. Instead, he asked, “What’s your take on it?”
“To be honest, Ethan, the three–phase plan we settled on was a compromise based on our current funding. It’s not the ultimate vision. With this level of investment, we could effectively skip to the objectives of Phase Two immediately. It would significantly accelerate the company’s growth trajectory,” Arabella analyzed, her tone earnest and professional.
Ethan nodded slowly. “My thoughts exactly.” A look of genuine respect crossed his features. “It’s impressive. You’ve just taken the helm, and you’ve not only mapped out a clear long–term strategy but also devised the most viable path forward with limited resources. You have a real gift for this.”
She was grounded and strategic–traits not always found in someone so young. If he didn’t know her age, he might think she had years of executive experience.
“So, you’re in favor of accepting the investment?” Arabella confirmed.
“Matthew did mention he was looking at opportunities in the sector. I didn’t bring it up before because our initial phased plan didn’t require immediate external capital. But if your vision extends beyond that, then securing strategic investment is absolutely the right move,” Ethan said with an encouraging smile.
“Alright then. I’ll go back and revise the business plan. Once we have an agreement in principle with Matthew, we can execute according to the new strategy,” Arabella decided promptly.
Ethan gave another firm nod. “Good. I’ll continue overseeing the day–to–day at the lab. The initial adjustments we’re implementing now won’t be affected in the short term.”
“Thank you for handling things on that end, Ethan,” Arabella said, her smile grateful.
