Chapter 303 A Request
Feeling a pang of bitterness, Naomi forced herself to maintain a polite smile. She still had an agenda to pursue.
After a brief pause, she spoke up. “Alfred, Ruby mentioned she’d like to take you out for a meal sometime.”
Ruby hadn’t dared to come to Cloudrise Manor these past few days and was growing increasingly anxious.
Alfred replied coolly, “That won’t be necessary.”
Ruby hadn’t offended him; she needed to apologize to the person she had actually wronged.
“Alfred, she really…” Naomi tried to intercede again.
Alfred’s tone turned firm. “Naomi, have you already forgotten what I told you?”
Naomi swallowed her words and could only insist, “It’s just… she’s still my cousin. We can’t avoid her forever, can we?”

“If she knows she was in the wrong, she knows what she needs to do.” Alfred had no desire to continue the conversation and turned his attention to Arabella. “Is the cotton candy good?”
Seeing that Alfred was effectively dismissing her, Naomi had no choice but to fall silent.
Florence looked on curiously. “Did Ruby cause more trouble?”
“It’s nothing, Mom,” Arabella said.
She didn’t want to bring up matters that would upset her mother.
“Are you sure?” Florence seemed skeptical.
Arabella offered a light smile. “She just upset Alfred a little, so she wants to make it up to him. Since she’s acknowledging her mistake, Alfred isn’t going to hold a grudge.”
Hearing this, Florence seemed reassured. “I see. As long as she’s not stirring up real trouble.
“That girl has been without her parents for too long. I’m afraid she’s been indulged a bit much,” Florence sighed.
Not wanting to dwell on Ruby, Arabella changed the subject. “Mom, shall we go in for dinner?”
“Yes, let’s eat,” Florence agreed.
Arabella stood up. “Dad’s in his study, right? I’ll go get him.”
“Arabella, you go ahead to the dining room. I’ll get Dad,” Naomi sald quickly, already moving toward the staircase ahead of her,
“Mom, let’s go ahead then,” Arabella said, linking her arm with Florence’s.
A flicker of annoyance crossed Naomi’s face.
She had wanted to appear helpful, but now she just felt foolish.
Watching the others chatting and laughing as they headed toward the dining room, Naomi could only make her way upstairs alone

The next day after breakfast, Arabella prepared to head out.
“Where are you off to? I’ll give you a ride,” Alfred offered, having finished his meal and ready to leave as well.
“Horizon Corp,” Arabella replied.
“What for?” Alfred asked.
Arabella waved a folder. “Dropping off a proposal.”
“Right,” Alfred acknowledged, moving to leave with her.
“Arabella,” Naomi called out.
Arabella turned. “Yes?”
“Do you have other errands after dropping that off?” Naomi inquired.
“No, that’s it,” Arabella answered honestly.
Biting her lip lightly, Naomi put on a considerate tone. “In that case, let me drop it off for you.”
“You will?” Arabella was slightly surprised. Was Naomi volunteering to be a messenger?
“I’ll be driving past Horizon Corp anyway. It’s on my route,” Naomi said, trying to sound casual.
Arabella thought for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, that would save me a trip.”
With that, she handed the document folder to Naomi.
Taking it, Naomi frowned slightly. Why did she suddenly feel like a delivery person?
But the thought of getting to see Matthew at his office balanced out the feeling.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure it gets there. I won’t hold up your work,” Naomi said, offering Arabella an uncharacteristically pleasant smile.
Arabella turned back to Alfred. “In that case, Alfred, let’s head straight to the flight school.”
“Let’s go,” Alfred said, following her out.
Naomi looked down at the folder in her hands, a small thrill of anticipation running through her.
“Mom, Dad, I’m heading out,” Naomi announced, her steps light as she left.
Florence frowned but could only sigh softly in the end.
Jonathan placed some fruit in her bowl. “Eat up.”
“Mom, Dad, is something the matter?” Ethan asked, noticing the subtle tension.

“It’s nothing.” Florence shook her head.
The dynamics felt complicated now, and she wasn’t sure how to address them.
“Alright, I should get going too,” Ethan said, standing up to leave.
“Do you think Arabella truly has no interest in Matthew?” Florence asked, her face etched with worry.

“Arabella just came back into our lives. She probably hasn’t given much thought to romance yet. Let’s give it time,” Jonathan reassured her.
Florence could only nod. “I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.“.
Naomi arrived at Matthew’s office and knocked lightly on the door.
“Come in.” Hearing his voice, Naomi took a steadying breath and entered.
“Matthew, I’m here to deliver some documents,” she said, placing the folder on his desk.
Matthew frowned. “Your documents?”
“Oh, no. This is the proposal Arabella prepared. She asked me to bring it over,” Naomi explained.
Matthew’s eyes narrowed slightly, his voice cooling. “Why didn’t she deliver it herself?”
Naomi replied with feigned casualness, “She went to the flight school. She said she had plans with Lucas and didn’t want to be late.”
The atmosphere in the room instantly grew several degrees colder.
“You may leave,” Matthew said, his attention already shifting away from her as if she were no longer there.
Naomi felt a surge of frustration. She had finally gotten in to see him, and this was his response? A simple dismissal?
