Ruby hadn’t left. She had gone to the training field and later visited the infirmary…
“Just check if any laxative powder is missing from the infirmary’s supplies, and it’ll all make sense,” Arabella said as she entered the clinic.
She handed the medical report to the attending staff member. “Take a look–is any powder with these components unaccounted for here?”
“Yes! I was just wondering where it went–I couldn’t find it anywhere,” the staff member said excitedly after glancing at the report.
“Who came in today?” Arabella pressed.
“Let me check the log,” the staff member said, scanning the records. “Only one student was signed in–a girl named Ruby.”
“Alright, I understand,” Arabella said, turning to leave.
The staff member hurried after her. “What happened to my supplies?”
“Lucas ingested them,” Arabella replied curtly, already walking away.
The staff member was stunned. “He ingested them? Is he out of his mind?”
Arabella had already left the infirmary and reached the parking area.
Now everything was clear, and all the evidence pointed squarely at Ruby.
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she dialed Colton’s number.
“What’s up? Did the payment not come through?” Colton answered immediately.
“All you think about is food and money,” Arabella said, a note of fond exasperation in her voice.
Colton replied playfully, “Aren’t those two of life’s simple joys?”
“Enough. I need your help with something important,” Arabella said. “There’s a locked cabinet in my office–go open it…”
“Why do you need that?” Colton asked, surprised.
“To return the favor, of course,” Arabella said coolly, briefly explaining the situation.
Colton frowned. “Why did you go investigating something this serious on your own instead of letting me handle it?”
If someone was trying to harm her, wasn’t it dangerous for her to go alone?
“You don’t have access to the flight school, so it wouldn’t be easy for you to look into it,” she replied. It was simpler for her, as a student with full access, to handle it discreetly.
“Alright, understood. Then get out of there now,” Colton urged, concerned for her safety.
“It’s fine. The person isn’t here anymore,” Arabella said calmly.

After pulling a stunt like that, Ruby must have bolted long ago.
“I’ll get this done for you as soon as I can,” Colton said, his tone turning serious.
“Okay,” Arabella replied before ending the call.
She took a steadying breath, started her car, and left the academy.

Back at Cloudrise Manor, Arabella looked somewhat drained.
“Arabella, what’s wrong? You look exhausted,” Florence said with concern.
“It’s nothing,” Arabella replied, sitting down and casting a glance toward Ruby.
She actually had the nerve to come here..
Ruby lifted her chin slightly, her eyes carrying a hint of smug satisfaction.
“Arabella, was training particularly intense today?” Florence gently smoothed Arabella’s hair. “There’s no need to rush. Don’t push yourself too hard.”
“It’s not that, Mom. I’m just upset because a friend of mine is in the hospital,” Arabella explained.
“A friend! What happened? Is it serious?” Florence asked, concerned.
Arabella shook her head. “They’ll be alright, but they need to stay for observation for a few days.”
“I see,” Florence said, relieved it wasn’t critical. “It’s good to care about your friends, but remember to look after your own well- being too.”
“Arabella, who is it that’s sick?” Naomi asked curiously.
Who else could Arabella be referring to?
“Lucas,” Arabella stated evenly.
Naomi looked surprised. “How did he get sick? He seemed perfectly fine this morning.”
“Yeah, probably ate something bad. He’s completely worn out,” Arabella said, watching Ruby as she spoke. Noticing Ruby seemed to want to say something but was holding back, a faint, mocking smile touched Arabella’s lips.
“You really do have to be careful about what you eat,” Naomi remarked with a sigh.
Ruby couldn’t contain herself any longer. “You were with him the whole time. How come you’re fine?”
“Should I be sick?” Arabella shot back.
“You ate the same things he did, so why aren’t you sick?” Ruby pressed, unwilling to drop it.
Arabella let out a cold snort and shot back, “How do you know I ate the same thing as him?”

“Maybe I just have a stronger stomach,” Arabella said vaguely.
Ruby didn’t dare ask more, afraid she might reveal too much.
Still, she was genuinely puzzled. How could Lucas end up in the hospital while Arabella was completely unaffected?

“Arabella, why don’t you go upstairs and rest for a while?” Florence said, genuinely worried about Arabella’s tired appearance.
“Okay, I’ll head up then,” Arabella said, standing and making her way upstairs.
As she left, she cast a meaningful glance in Ruby’s direction.
Ruby felt a sudden chill and shivered involuntarily.
That look Arabella had given her was unsettling–it felt heavy and penetrating.
“Ruby, are you alright?” Naomi asked.
“It’s nothing.” Ruby shook her head, not sharing her unease with Naomi.
“Naomi, keep Ruby company. I’m going to check on the soup simmering in the kitchen and bring a bowl up to Arabella,” Florence said, already heading toward the kitchen.
